Licensed Florida plumbing contractor CFC1430748. $69 to come out, waived on larger jobs.
Rather text? Send a photo of the problem to 352-377-9447 and we’ll tell you what it sounds like.

42,915 residents at the 2020 census, spread across small towns, farm roads and long driveways. We run the Williston side of Levy County on purpose.
First Choice Plumbing is a licensed plumber serving Levy County, FL, working the Williston, Morriston and east county corridor out of Hawthorne. We handle leak detection, water heaters, drain clearing, repipes, well water filtration and septic tank installs and drain fields. $69 to come out. $375 leak detection, guaranteed to find it. Call or text 352-377-9447.

In a city, a plumbing problem is partly somebody else’s problem. There is a utility on the other end of the line, a water department to call about pressure, a sewer main that is not yours. Out here almost none of that is true. The well is yours. The pump is yours. The pressure tank, the filter, the softener, the tank and the drain field in the side yard are all yours, and when one of them quits, it is your Saturday.
The ground itself is part of the job. Levy County sits on the same limestone that makes Devil’s Den and the Blue Grotto what they are, right outside Williston. Water moving through that rock picks up calcium and magnesium on the way, which is why the water out here is harder than what people get on a city system, and why fixtures scale up and water heaters wear out early. The same rock holds sulfur, which is where the rotten egg smell comes from, and iron, which is what stains the tub and the laundry.
Then there is the part nobody says out loud. You have probably called a plumber, waited on a window that came and went, and heard a price at the truck that had nothing to do with the price on the phone. Or somebody cut a hole in your wall to find a leak, found it, and left the hole. You are not being difficult by wanting a number before the work starts and a wall that looks like a wall afterward. That is just the deal working correctly, and it is what we sell.
Ours is $69. That covers coming out, diagnosing the problem and handing you a written price before anybody starts anything. On larger jobs it gets waived. We publish it because you should not have to call three companies to find out what it costs to get somebody in the driveway.
Leak detection is its own visit at $375 flat, because it is a different kind of call with specialized equipment. You are guaranteed we find it. If we don’t find it, you don’t pay. We also write the whole thing up for your insurance company, which matters more than people expect once a claim gets reviewed.
Everything past that gets priced in writing at your house, before the work, with a two year parts and labor warranty on what we do and the manufacturer warranty stacked on top. If a smaller fix will get you there, we will tell you that instead of selling you the big one. Financing is available on larger jobs.
First Choice Plumbing is locally owned. Will Harrod is the owner and the license holder, Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor CFC1430748, and he still runs the estimates himself. Mike handles service and drain calls. Ben is on the truck with him. Kim answers the phone and does the dispatching, and she is the reason Levy County work gets batched sensibly instead of sending one truck back and forth across three counties in a day.
That is the whole company. It is small on purpose right now. It means the person quoting your repipe is the person responsible for it, and if something is not right, you are not filing a ticket into a call center, you are talking to the man whose license is on the permit.
It also means we are careful about what we take on. We do not do tile, we do not paint, we are not a general contractor, and we do not do septic pump-outs or inspections. When your job needs one of those, we say so and we point you somewhere good.
Every one of these is work we actually run out here, not a list copied off a national site.
$375 flat to come find it, with equipment instead of guesswork. You are guaranteed we find it. If we don’t find it, you don’t pay.
Air injection, chlorine free systems, softener and media tanks, and sulfur systems with a gas-off tank. Water testing is free before we recommend anything.
The orange staining and the rotten egg smell are two different problems with two different fixes. We test first, then treat what is actually there.
Hard water out here is a rock problem, not a housekeeping problem. A properly sized softener saves the water heater and the fixtures.
Tank and tankless, gas, propane and electric. Install, replacement and repair, permit pulled and inspection scheduled as part of the job.
You have a clog and you want it gone. Usually about an hour and a half, in and out.
Polybutylene, galvanized and failing CPVC replaced in PEX or copper. We patch every hole we cut.
New installs, replacements, drain fields, locating a buried tank, and proper abandonment.
Horse waterers, feeders, hose bibs, outdoor kitchens and pool lines for the horse and hobby farm properties around Williston and Morriston.
$69 to come out, waived on larger jobs. Written price before anybody starts anything.
Levy County is big. It runs from the Alachua County line all the way out to Cedar Key and the Gulf, and that is a lot of ground for one truck. So here is the honest version instead of a map with the whole county colored in.
We come at Levy County from Hawthorne, through Gainesville and out past Archer. That puts the Williston corridor squarely on our routes:
The heart of the corridor we run, squarely on our routes.
On the Williston corridor, squarely on our routes.
On the Williston corridor, squarely on our routes.
Horse and hobby farm country on our routes.
On the Williston corridor, squarely on our routes.
On the Williston corridor, squarely on our routes.
On our way in from Hawthorne, through Gainesville and out past Archer.
Three complaints cover most of it, and each one points somewhere different.
Orange or reddish staining in the toilet tank, the tub and the laundry is iron. The Floridan Aquifer runs high in it naturally, so this is not something you did. A rotten egg smell is hydrogen sulfide. If you smell it on the hot side and the cold side, it is coming from the well and you need treatment. If you only smell it on the hot side, it is usually happening inside your water heater, and that is a much cheaper fix, which is exactly the kind of thing we would rather tell you on the phone than sell you a system for. White crust on the shower head and a water heater that died young is hardness, from all that calcium the water picks up moving through limestone.
We test the water free before we recommend anything, because a softener does not fix sulfur and a sulfur system does not fix hardness. Air injection, chlorine free systems, softener and media tanks, sulfur systems with a gas-off tank. We do not do undersink reverse osmosis, and we will say why if you ask. Water testing
Free water test before any recommendation. We test first, then treat what is actually in the water.
Almost everything outside a city limit out here is on septic. We install new tanks, replace failed ones, put in drain fields, locate a buried tank when nobody knows where it is, and properly abandon and decommission an old tank.
What we do not do: pump-outs, septic inspections and tank removal. That is not us being cagey, it is just not our lane. Call anyway and we will point you at somebody who does it right. Florida moved septic permitting to the Department of Environmental Protection in 2021, so a new tank or a drain field is a permitted job with an inspection either way, and we handle that paperwork as part of the work.
Usually, yes. Florida requires a permit to install, replace or alter a plumbing system, and that includes swapping a water heater, even when the new one goes in the same spot as the old one. It surprises people every time.
For unincorporated Levy County that runs through the Levy County Development Department in Bronson, and you can reach them at (352) 486-5198. If your address falls inside a city limit, the city may handle it instead, so the first thing we do is confirm which office your property answers to. Septic work goes through the state, since Florida moved onsite sewage permitting to the Department of Environmental Protection in 2021.
We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job. If somebody quotes you a water heater and never mentions a permit, that is worth a question.
None of that is complicated. It is just what you would want if it were your house, your well and your money. We built the company around it because Will got tired of hearing what the last guy did.
| What matters out here | First Choice Plumbing | Typical big-name or out-of-area company |
|---|---|---|
| Which half of the county they actually run | We name the Williston corridor and we say out loud where we do not push work. | The whole county colored in on a map, then a three day wait. |
| Price before the work | $69 to come out, published. $375 leak detection, published. Written price before we start. | No price anywhere on the site. You find out at the truck. |
| Well water and septic | Free water test, filtration, softeners, sulfur systems, septic installs, drain fields, locating and abandonment. | Built for city water and city sewer. Wells and septic get referred out. |
| Who does the work | A small local crew. The owner, Will, still runs the estimates himself. | Whichever tech the dispatch board hands you, working to a commission sheet. |
| The mess afterward | We patch every hole we cut, with a professional drywall contractor. | Open drywall left behind and a phone number for somebody else. |
| Being told no | We tell you when a smaller fix will do it, and when a job is not ours. | Every visit ends in a recommendation for the biggest option on the sheet. |
| The license | Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor CFC1430748, printed on every page of this site. | Buried, borrowed from a franchise, or never shown at all. |

$69, waived on larger jobs. You get a written price before anything starts, and if a smaller fix will do it, that is what we will tell you.
Permits pulled where they are needed, holes patched by a drywall contractor, two year parts and labor warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty.
Water does the damage on the clock, so the first few minutes matter more than the phone call does.
A leak nobody has found yet does not stay the same size. On a well you do not even get the warning a city water bill gives you, because there is no bill to spike. What you get instead is a pump that runs more than it used to, a pressure tank that cycles, and eventually a wet spot or a floor that feels warm in one place.
Untreated iron and hardness do their damage slowly and then all at once. Scale coats the inside of the water heater, the element or the burner works harder, and a heater that should have gone twelve years goes in six. A drain field that is starting to fail gives you soggy ground and a smell before it gives you a backup in the house, and replacing one on your schedule costs less trouble than replacing one on its schedule.
Clear water out of every tap with no orange ring in the toilet tank and no smell in the shower. A water heater that quietly does its job. A tank and a drain field you do not think about. A written price you agreed to before the work, a wall that looks like a wall, and a two year warranty in a folder somewhere. That is the whole goal. It is not exciting, and that is the point.
Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor. Will Harrod holds the license and still runs the estimates himself.
We run the Williston side of Levy County on purpose.
Free water test, filtration, softeners, sulfur systems, septic installs, drain fields, locating and abandonment.
A professional drywall contractor does the patch. We do not paint.
We service the Williston side of it. We are based in Hawthorne and we come through Gainesville and Archer, so Williston, Williston Highlands, East Williston, Morriston, Montbrook and Raleigh are on our routes. Bronson, Chiefland and the coastal end of the county are not where we push work, and we would rather say that than take the call and disappoint you. Call anyway and we will give you a straight answer.
We charge $69 to come out, diagnose the problem and give you a written price before any work starts. That fee is waived on larger jobs. Leak detection is a separate $375 flat rate because it is a different kind of visit with specialized equipment.
In almost every case, yes. Florida requires a permit to install, replace or alter a plumbing system, and a water heater changeout counts. For unincorporated Levy County that runs through the Levy County Development Department in Bronson at (352) 486-5198, and if your address is inside a city limit the city may handle it instead. We confirm which office your property answers to, pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job.
That smell is hydrogen sulfide, and the groundwater in this part of Florida is naturally high in it along with iron. If you smell it on both the hot and cold sides, it is coming from the well and you need treatment. If you only smell it on the hot side, it is usually happening inside your water heater, which is a much cheaper fix. We test the water free either way before we recommend anything.
That is iron, and it is common out here because the Floridan Aquifer carries it naturally. It shows up as orange or reddish staining in the toilet tank, the tub and the laundry. Iron, sulfur and hardness are three separate problems with three different fixes, so we test first and then treat what is actually in your water instead of selling you a tank that does not address it.
Levy County sits on limestone, the same rock that made Devil's Den and the Blue Grotto outside Williston. Water moving through it dissolves calcium and magnesium on the way to your well, which is what makes it hard. Hardness is what scales your shower head, spots the dishes and shortens the life of a water heater, and a properly sized softener is what fixes it.
Yes. We install new tanks, replace failed ones, put in drain fields, locate a buried tank when nobody knows where it is, and properly abandon and decommission an old tank. We do not do pump-outs, septic inspections or tank removal. If that is what you need, call us anyway and we will point you at someone who does it right.
We run an emergency line and we answer it. If a line has burst or a heater has let go at two in the morning, call 352-377-9447 and tell us it is an emergency. Shut the water off first, then call.
No. We patch every hole we cut, and a professional drywall contractor does the patch. We do not paint, and we tell you that before we start rather than after. Your work is also covered by a two year parts and labor warranty, with the manufacturer warranty on top of it.
Bronson, Chiefland, Cedar Key, Yankeetown, Inglis and the coastal end of the county are a different story. We are not going to tell you we push work down there, because we don’t. If you are out that way, call us anyway. If it is something we should drive for we will tell you, and if there is a plumber closer to you who will take better care of you on a Tuesday afternoon, we will tell you that too. We would rather give you a good answer than a truck roll that helps nobody.
Levy work gets batched by geography, the same way we handle Bradford and Union. That is how a small crew keeps appointments instead of missing them. Emergencies we come out for. Everything else gets a real day, and we keep it.
